Field Notes

Description:

These tracks are in the tidal mud flats where the mangroves grow. Of the birds we saw, the great blue heron, wood stork, and the white ibis are possibilities. These mud flats are full of fiddler crabs. Do you think that the webbing on the stork keeps it out of the running? The 2nd picture has a leaf and small shells for sizing. Sorry, we were on a boardwalk.

Habitat:

Tidal mud flats.
