Field Notes

Description:

Arrowhead-shaped moth edged in light color with darker stripes across the top of its wings when it's sitting still. The was a pretty good-sized moth, at least 3/4" across with its wings folded in.

Habitat:

I saw it perched briefly in a bush alongside the front walk to my house in an older suburban neighborhood with mature trees.

Notes:

I didn't get a real good look at this creature before it flew off.

Thanks for the ID, Keith. That makes sense. I found a White-lined Sphinx Moth Caterpillar in my garden last year and photographed it. Didn't know what the adults looked like.
