Brown hare
Lepus capensis
37.2079, -7.57806
Field Notes
Description:
Similar in shape to a rabbit but much larger, with longer legs, long black-tipped ears, and a more 'upright' tail, rather than a round one. Mostly solitary. Males box in spring, generally nocuturnal.
Notes:
The hare is dead centre in the photo, hiding in the grass. I was actually tracking a partridge, was stood looking for it, heard a noise and turned slowly, and there was the hare! Never did get a shot of the partridge, though.
