Description:
Very large toad, mottled in color as shown.
Habitat:
Spotted in the middle of a road that crosses a canal. Surrounding habitat is mostly mesquite forest with understory grasses, some riparian plants.
Notes:
This is an invasive species. Glands in the skin of these toads secrete a toxin that can kill dogs and other pets. Formerly known as Bufo marinus.
