Field Notes

Description:

Shiny gray butterfly with orange, black and white markings. It has a black and white ribbon tail, striped antenna and legs. The second image shown the wonderful sheen on the wings. Be sure to watch the video. The caterpillar can be seen at spotting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7108515

Habitat:

Citrus leaf in backyard. It let me get the camera right up on the leaf next to it :)

Notes:

In the video, the butterfly is seen walking, sliding its wings up and down, touching its long tongue to the citrus leaf and dragging its abdomen on it.

Great spotting! Love the second pic, really shows it well. Cindy, I think that is the idea for the future, to have a globally based pollination mission.
Hi Carolina, I'll remove that mission. Hopefully a pollination based mission will start for all of the US or the world!
Hi Cindy! What a beautiful butterfly! I see you have submitted it to the Great Pollinator Project mission, but unfortunately this mission is only for the NYC area :)
I totally redid my Gray Hairstreak spotting. I probably should have just deleted the original and started a new one but oh well :) This one has a video too!
