KarenSaxton - I had edited this and a few of my others several times, it kept going back to Eugene. I think I have it sticking now after 3 tries this time. Thanks for pointing out that it was still wrong!
Pygmy short-horned lizard (Phrynosoma douglasii) is worth looking into. As a herp person I know there are tons of common names but I can't stand "horny toad." Don't even get me started on the Texas Christian University mascot. :-)
Adorable, but could you update the location to reflect oregon desert? And how cool that there are some still somewhere!
What a cutie and a great save since you found it in the road!!
OK... the "horned toad" is technically a lizard, as is stated in the reference link on Wikipedia, however the popular common name for them is "horned toad". I have updated the common name to be more precise.
was this really a toad? it has tail on it... or was it a lizard or maybe a tadpole going to a mature frog... very cute.
