Field Notes

Description:

We were exceptionally lucky to get to see a leopard in the wild as they are an extremely rare sight even in the Serengeti. This guy was sleeping soundly high up in a tree despite the fact that every guide in the area had rushed to the spot as soon as it's appearance had been radioed through. Judging from the size of it's belly it had recently made a substantial kill.

Habitat:

Serengeti, Tanzania

Notes:

Unfortunately the backlight made it tricky to get the exposure right.

Yes, not much action from any of the big cats during the day! We saw so much more on our night drives but I wasn't able to get any photos. We were extremely lucky to see a wild leopard though - we were told that relatively few people do on safari trips.
about to take a nap!!! superb
I've had a go at lightening the photo so that it's a little easier to see.
