Field Notes

Description:

the distinguishing factor between the Sharp & the Cooper's is the squared off tail of the Sharp...which I believe this one has...there were several other photos that showed this better...when was the last time I had the two side by side for comparison...NEVER...

Notes:

lunching on some bird...see the feathers?

When I lived in NM, Mitch, I used to have trouble telling the Coopers and Sharp-shinned apart. They were both variable in appearance and over-lapped a bit.
Either a Sharp-shinned or a Cooper's
Suggest Sharp shinned Hawk Accipiter striatus
