Description:

Plant from our garden with trailing / climbing stems to 7 ft long - Leaves: alternate - winged petioles: 2 opposite, lnceolate to elliptic leaflets to 3 inch; terminal leaflet modified to a tendril. Fruits: Smooth Pods - 2-4 inches long. Lives to 10 years.

Habitat:

From Southern Europe - Eatablished in waste places - old home-steads throughout USA. Damp woodland - gardens and parks.

Notes:

In USA since 1720 Thomas Jefferson sowed some at Monticello in 1807
