It's some sort of gnaphosid but I wouldn't like to say which. Definitely not a wolf spider.

Thanks RuthBPatterson for the suggestion; I've never realised we had 'Wolf spiders' here, that I remember from a Spider Top Trumps game. My spotting has no brown markings so I'm not sure this spotting is a Wolf Spider but it could well be the ID for my other spotting that was carrying around an egg sack just like on the Wikipedia page for The Wolf Spider! http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/636616009
