Description:
aka grouse locusts... they are small (about 15mm)... are brown, gray (or a combination of both) or moss-green... and related to true grasshoppers.! the pygmy grasshoppers have their forewings either reduced to small pads or absent... and in addition... when not in flight... its folded membranous hindwings are protected by a pointed elongation of the thoracic shield.! sound-producing and hearing organs are absent in pygmy grasshoppers.!
