Description:

About 3cm (1"1/4) long, black shiny body with twin 'spikes' at the rear of the abdomen, black hairy legs.

Habitat:

It was living under a bit of wood I moved, on the earth under a sweet chestnut tree.

it looks like a male Atypus piceus.
We get lots in our area! Sometimes much larger. The webs are on the ground, really dense and with a distinctive tunnel inwards - underground.
