Great-tailed Grackle
Quiscalus mexicanus
35.1651, -101.91
Field Notes
Description:
This is a female as you can tell by the overall brown face. I found her this afternoon hanging from a tree in my front yard. Passerine birds have feet that automatically lock when they land on a branch, and if a bird dies, it is common for their feet to not unlock and for them to hang from the tree like this.
Habitat:
My front yard in the middle of town.
