Field Notes

Description:

Brown orb-weaving spider. Has spiky abdomen with multiple colors including yellow, orange and black. Including the orange striped legs, this spider was about 7 cm in diameter.

Habitat:

Grassy area along trail near lake

Notes:

Video included but the spider was not moving, just the camera.

Unfortunately these are the only views I have. It ended up running away before I could snap one. I go back regularly so I'll look for it next time. Maybe then it's web will show the signature markings!
You have to show Dorsal view also. Most of here seen of Ventral view. Upload if you have picture of her back.
The signature might be not done... look like new web..!!
Thank you for the ID Ashish! I wouldn't have thought of Argiope since it didn't have a distinctive zig-zag pattern in its web.
