Field Notes

Description:

This clematis was growing between two eucalypts in an open forest, no other clematis nearby.

Habitat:

Open Eucalypt forest, Adelaide hills

Notes:

Woody climber to 4m high, Leaves divided into narrow-oblong leaflets to 5cm long 1.5cm wide, margins mostly entire. Flowers creamy-white with 4 petal-like sepals 2-4cm across on short aviary panicles. Fruit rounded head of achenes, each with a plumed tail.
