White Spotted Jellyfish
Phyllorhiza punctata
36.1601, -95.993
Field Notes
Description:
Close of picture of a fairly large horde of white spotted jellyfish at the Oklahoma Aquarium. They had several jellyfish species and I was really impressed with the variety of species they had. These are an incredibly harmful invasive species where they are not native.
Habitat:
It is native to the West Pacific from Australia to Japan, but has been introduced widely elsewhere. In North America and Hawaii its non-native locations are the following: Northern Gulf of Mexico, Southern California, Greater Antilles, Florida, and the Hawaiian Islands.
