Field Notes

Description:

Narrow body, purple and orange millipede with pale legs.

Habitat:

Forest

Notes:

Unfortunately, this little guy was dead. I found it floating in the water, where it must have fallen and drowned. It's in the family Xystodesmidae, which is very diverse in the Appalachians. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
