Very nice spotting! Grapeleaf Skeletonizer almost never keeps its wings closed.
I am not 100% sure, but this looks quite similar to the Grapeleaf Skeletonizer that i spotted earlier this summer, http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6935438
I'm still trying to figure these guys out Dan, it's almost maddening! I'll check some of my books again and see if I can get some insights to ID this one.
Actually mine was a Red Shouldered Ctenucha as seen here: http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Ctenucha-rubroscapus I think this one would be one of the other two mentioned on my spotting.
Good to know - I'm learning all kinds of things tonight. :)
I thought so too but I'm not sure. Latimeria shed some light on this for me about a week ago on a similar spotting. You can read the thread below. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7087319
