Description:

The name 'mute' derives from it being less vocal than other swan species.
Despite its Eurasian origin, its closest relatives are the Black Swan of Australia and the Black-necked Swan of South America, not the other Northern Hemisphere swans.

Notes:

I took this photo of a juvenile mute swan at Virginia Water lake. There was heavy snow that day & very dark skies giving a blue cast to the photo.
