Species ID Suggestions

Comments (3)

first four might have a common sp but the last two is different. if this is large-bodied and large black beak, its a possibility of a Great-billed Heron which is a rare catch and only reside in palawan and panay group of islands. however its too far to identify. other possibilities might be grey heron or purple heron (5th is much like of purple)
Hi @avatb. Thanks for the suggestion. Added 3 photos (last 3 on the set) which might help. Just not sure if it was the same bird but they were taken on the same morning (different time though) at the same place as the first 3. Last pic shows the bird perching on what appears to be a nest. Just too bad I did not have enough zoom on by lens...
This might be a Striated Heron (Butorides striata). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Striated_Heron
