I agree it def looks like a fox squirrel
Perhaps a fox squirrel (sciurus niger)? I read their population is primarily on east coast, but introduced to California.
it looks like a grey squirrel, red squirrels have longer hairs on the tips of their ears, grey squirrels can be reddish black white ect...
