Description:

Charcoal colored moth about 3" long with dominant, almost protruding false eyes on back.

Habitat:

Hardwood forest and grassy fields

Tomato Hornworm Moth (Manduca quinqemaculata) Could possibly be a Tobacco Hornworm, but it looks more like M. quinqemaculata. It is much easier to tell if you can see the abdomen.
