Stripes run longitudinally three light/ 2 dark on cephalothorax, 3light/ 4dark on abdomen. Body approx 1" each leg about 1.5-2 " in length. Notably hairy

That would make sense. It has that look to me but doesn't match what I was"taught" a wolf spider is... THANK YOU for responding
I think it's a wolf spider. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_spider) There are a lot of species and they're hard to distinguish...
