Description:

group of toadstools about the size of as football. Individual toadstools between 4-7cm diameter.

Habitat:

growing on a macracarpa stump

i totally agree with clive. no idea, what i thought then, but a hour ago, when saw the message, i felt a bit ashamed, that i suggested armillaria (maybe it was late, but definitly: i was wrong) , I canot say, which species exactly, but it looks like "gymnopillus" and i will believe/agree "clive", with the "G. Junonius". It's possible and very likely! ( i've learned the last 2-3 month, but will never be "perfect" :) )
i dont think it mellea , but at least genus armillaria
thankyou Gina, I've done some more research and I think you may be right. Unfortunately the photo was taken a few months ago so I can't go back and check more closely!
I think it's armillaria root rot disease. To me it looks like armillaria mellea.
