Description:

brownish to khaki petals, 5 calyx which protects the single petalled flower in the bud stage and opens with ondulations when fully displaying. single stalk with a bunch of ten 8 or more flower. Orchid is a collecting of single tube like structures with more than five thick leaves a top and stalk growing from the apex

Habitat:

tropical/subtropical and common in savannah areas

Notes:

this flower grows at home where I have a tree stump with a bunch

Just stunning! This is a really cool genus of orchids that has hollow pseudobulbs, which are usually inhabited by ants. The ants pack the p.bulbs out with mineral and organic matter, which helps feed the orchid, as do the dead ant bodies which they tidy away!
