A big purple flower similar to the Hybrid Hibiscus.

I think that might be a "Rose of Sharon" or an Althea. My mom has some in her yard. They are hardy hibiscus-like flowers that can grow into bushes or trees. Some have single flowers, like this one, and some have double flowers.
