what type of snake does your book suggest?
Not out of the realm of possibility. People buy "exotic" pets at pet stores and they either escape, or become too much to handle and are "released in to the wild" to fend for themselves...
every snake I saw in my book that looks like that marking, isn't supposed to be in your area...unless some person turned it loose there...
