Description:

In the garden. Pretty sure it's native, grows on its own. I don't get rid of them. It's my dad's garden and he don't seem to mind them.

You're right; I think it still may be a wood sorrel, maybe the yellow. Here is a USDA profile; I know the Oxalis are a common genus of weeds throughout the Eastern Seaboard http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=OXST
According to the site you shared, they're a bit too far north for me. But it's a good guess. Thanks :)
I think it may be a common weed throughout the US, common wood sorrel. The latin name is Oxalis stricta, although its tricky to tell without the flower http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_wood_sorrel
