Description:

A very hairy caterpillar with two tufts of hairs near the head is a suspected tussock moth. These are common among the Acacia flowers on which they seem to feed.

Habitat:

Nature reserve
Mt. Lofty.

Thanks Leuba. I wonder if the tufts are functional in protecting the head. They can hardly be decorative since catties are not reproductive.
