Description:

Rusty colored hairless legs, stone colored abdomen with marbled pattern. Small 1/2" total length. No clearly defined web. Found on the wall of a normally dry barn.

Leg proportions and abdomen (especially if it was marbled!) suggest some kind of comb-footed spider? I think your spider might be this one (quick check on Bug Guide.net, which is good for North American insects/arachnids!) http://bugguide.net/node/view/554985 which is the American house spider! You can have a look through the website until you're satisfied with a positive ID :) Very pretty spider though!
