Just doing a search on "Tomato Hornworm" and came across your beautiful spotting. Because of your detailed images I was able to match your caterpillar with the larva of a Great Ash Sphinx.
Many Sphinx caterpillars look very similar. Your caterpillar has distinctive markings and coloration that distinguish it from it's cousin, Manduca quinquemaculata.
Please note the pale stripes on the head, tomato Hornworms don't have these.

Your caterpillar has seven long diagonal on the side, Tomato Hornworms have eight V-shaped stripes on the side:
