Description:
Small reptile. Grows to maybe 2 inches in length in Wyoming.
Habitat:
Sagebrush areas with large numbers of ant hills. These lizards tend to disappear when people move in, possibly because people often kill the ants in the area.
Notes:
As noted above, these are common in open areas with sagebrush and ants. We find a lot of them at the location indicated. However, if the subdivision grows, it's likely the horned lizards will move out.
