Field Notes

Description:

At first I thought it was paper floating in the water but then it started to move on it's own against the current. It is small, it would fit in the palm of my hand, maybe 2 or 3 inches long. It is slow moving.

Habitat:

Salt water, I found it in the water off the dock at Sooke Harbour Resort and Marina.

Notes:

Please, someone tell me what this is. It has been suggested to me that it is a jellyfish? I think not. A Nudi? A Sea Slug? A Sea cucumber? Argh...

Species ID Suggestions

hooded nudibranch

Melibe leonina
