Wildlife Spotting

No idea what this is! It suddenly appeared in our garden. The white area was the same texture as a mushroom - dry, not slimy. The center was oozing a reddish brown liquid for a while which then hardened to a tar like consistency. Lasted for about two weeks in this state.
