Field Notes

Notes:

I wasn’t originally planning to post this in case anyone thought I would deliberately feed any wildlife anything as inappropriate as ice cream – but then I thought this really was a close encounter with a wild critter & in my defense, I was mugged! We were in Stanley park, Vancouver when we spotted a crowd of people all around this little guy. We went in for a closer look & I decided to be a real tourist & take a photo of it with my husband in the background. I squatted down on my haunches to get a better angle with camera in left hand, ice cream in right, at which point raccoon spots ice cream & as you can see, the rest is history! It had a firm hold on my hand so I wasn’t able to do much about it – anyway; I figured it better not to get on the wrong side of something with sharp teeth!

Yes, I can't really blame him or her! :)
Hehe, the racoon lived up to its masked face, a real ice cream robber. I understand him, I also get mad about ice creams - specially chocolat flavour.
