Field Notes

Description:

The western or Pacific pond turtle has been decimated by the introduction of bullfrogs. Populations consist of mature turtles. They appear to be a plain greenish brown, but if you look closely, the legs and head have black "scribble" marking on them

Habitat:

Ponds. This one is at the wildlife safari park, although it is native - the park probably allows it to stay wild, not be captured and hopefully not have it's young eaten by bullffrogs

Notes:

Many times when there are more than one, they look like the surface of the log they are resting on
