Description:

The Red-headed Cardinal Beetle is a beetle of some 20cm in length, with brightly red-colored uppersides (head, thorax and elytras) , while legs and long toothed antennae are black.

Habitat:

This beetle is predator, and feeds on other insects. It is usually found in woodland, along hedgerows, and in parks and gardens. Here, observed on edges of deciduous, predominantly oak, (Bagasse forest) forest on France-Switzerland border, in a valley of lake Geneva, just in between Jura and Alps mountains ranges.
