Notes:

Sub-adult Green Heron eating a frog. Some of these photos are kind of graphic and possibly not for the squeamish.

these birds arent exactly skiddish they let you get pretty close which is bad at night when they randomly up from beside you with there ca-ca-ca noise
I saw two near my Florida house yesterday but didn't know what they were yet! Thank you!
Wonderful clear pictures with good action.
Nice series! The fourth photo is so cool, like he was thinking...I'm the best! :)
Very good observations excellent photos!
I was basically in full sight, shooting from 6-8 feet away. My outline was probably broken up somewhat by knee high grass and scrub near the edge of the pond. There was an adult there as well that flew off as soon as I approached, but this one had just caught a frog and probably didn't feel like abandoning it. It "tenderized" the frog for several minutes before swallowing it. Kind of a gruesome sight, but interesting to watch.
Where were you that he did not fly off while you were taking pictures?
