Description:

Large, red, wasp gall. It is about 1 inch in diameter. This one is now empty with a hole showing the exit. "Galls are up to 15mm in diameter and are red or green with yellow spots. With the exception of some Q. turbinella galls, the galls have a curved beak."

Habitat:

Scrub Oak at lagoon. "Larvae make galls in the late spring and summer on blue (Quercus douglasii), scrub (Q. berberidifolia), shrub live (Q. turbinella), and leather (Q. durata) oaks."
