Description:

I'm pretty sure it was getting ready to take it's final breaths. It was barely moving.

Species ID Suggestions

"Linne's Annual Cicada"

Tibicen linnei

Comments (1)

Fortunately, we can remove T. canicularis (http://bugguide.net/node/view/12461) from the mix because of its northern distribution with scarce isolated reports in the App. Mountains of e. KY, e. VA and w. NC. So, given your location (SC), your options are limited to three very similar looking species. Tibicen linnei (looks most like linnei) http://bugguide.net/node/view/32143 Tibicen winnemanna (not winnemanna) http://bugguide.net/node/view/236729 Tibicen robinsonianus (Does not appear to have a bisected pronotal collar) http://bugguide.net/node/view/163614
