Field Notes

Description:

A lone sentinel weaver ant guarding a long bladed leaf of another plant at the base of a colony tree. Other leaves were similarly guarded.

Habitat:

Large semi-urban yard/garden adjacent to a disturbed remnant patch of forest.

Notes:

These ants are very defensive/aggressive. They have a distinct odor. Grateful for a confirmation of species ID.
