Field Notes

Description:

Blue/green eye'd dragonfly with brown, black and yellow thorax and abdomen. It has black tips on the wings.

Habitat:

On a clothesline in the backyard.

Notes:

This dragonfly was found by my sister in Oregon. This is her image and spotting but since she doesn't have an account... YET, I'm posting it for her :)

I was surprised with the ID since I've posted one on here before that had quite different coloring but it seems there's a large variation in colors with this species. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6945655 They never cease to amaze me!
At first, I was convinced this was a female because the females are primarily yellow. Then, I noticed that only the males have blue eyes. This male dragonfly is most likely still in the process of getting his true colors. It's hard to say off one picture though.
