I feel its as what P Young is suggested..!! Ganoderma (Reishi) mushrooms are not look soft seen here..!!
thankyou for the Jack O 'Lantern suggestion. I don't recall there being any stem to these fungi. They came staright out of the wood so doubt they would be the Jack O'Lantern?
thankyou Ashish. It would be great if it was as they have lots of medicinal properties but I would need to see one again next Autumn to confirm this.
Can be one of Ganoderma mushrooms.
