Couldn't agree with you more Ian. We used to have a lot of these when I was growing up in Las Pinas. Not too mention the red and blue dragonflies as well as the big ones we fondly call tutubing kalabaw I use to catch as well. Ahh and the fireflies we used to collect and put in bottles... I think the last firefly I saw was in Babuyan Islands last year. A sad trade-off from urbanization without planning. You're lucky Ann you still live in the suburbs where there is still much of nature. Hope it will last :-)

Trees and fields made way to roads and houses. We not only lost the flora but the fauna as well. Aside from moths, the community lost the dragonfly-filled afternoons and the firefly-lit evenings. Yes, It would be wonderful if we could somehow restore the local wildlife ^_^

Wonderful pic and moth Ann. I am happy that there's an Atlas moth in your hills overlooking Manila. We used to have them in numerous numbers (imagine more than a dozen of these huge moths flying around you) in our area in UP Diliman, a time when santol trees (Sandoricum koetjape) are all over. Sadly both tree and moth are now a rarity in my place.
