Field Notes

Description:

Spotted in my back yard in southeast GA in the characteristic kinked posture of rat snakes.

Habitat:

This snake often occurs where wooded and open habitats (such as fields or farmland) are intermixed. Rat snakes often climb trees, especially rough-barked species or those with vines.
