Field Notes

Description:

First I thought this was a House Finch. Then I thought the white stripe on the head might make it a Song Sparrow but they aren't really in my area this time of the year. But with the drought, and hurricanes other places, strange things are happening with migrations.

Notes:

I made a birdbath out of a large terracotta pot and pot bottom. I flipped them upside down and used some extra silicone caulk to hold the bottom upside down. It's about 6-8 inches off the ground. I put one with water and one catches some seeds from the feeders above.

Nice video! I agree that it is definitely a Song Sparrow. It is very possible for them to be there especially since your very close to their year round range. There is most likely some overlap. :)
Might be a Savannah Sparrow.
