Description:

same size and color as fatid planthopper except this one has brown markings down the head and top of wings

Habitat:

temperate forest

Notes:

I spotted this at Allens Halfway Sandpit. I've seen plenty of different planthoppers this summer but this was the first time I'd seen one like this.

I've seen these guys around before, they're pretty neat. That body shape is a dead giveaway for the Acanaloniidae, and luckily for us, there's only one genus in the family in North America. The stripes on it give it away the species.

I saw one of these the other day. Fascinating creatures. I didn't have my camera handy, though. Great pics!
