Description:
Amazing little creatures. :)
Appears to be Entoloma conferendum, although a closer, clearer, look at the spores is much needed to show their unique star shape.
Habitat:
Growing in the soil in a conifer forest, conical shape, distant gills (adnexed), growing about 7,000 feet elevation, short gills present, "snap" sound upon splitting the stem in two, younger mushrooms are more dun-tan color while more mature ones are brown-cream, mushroomy odor.
Cap length: 4 cm. Stem height, 12-13 cm; stem width, 0.5 cm.
