Description:

Alydidae; Alydinae; Riptortus macleani Schaffner, 1963. This Pod-sucking Bug is about 2cm. long. It is brown with yellowish white stripes running along each side of its body. There is a sharp spine on each side of the thorax and it also has spines on the femora of its back legs..

Habitat:

This Pod-sucking Bug was spotted, in our backyard vegetable plot, on String beans (Vigna unguiculata), known as Sitaw, in the Philippines. Plant information from http://www.stuartxchange.org/Sitaw....
