A Monarch butterfly caterpillar feeding on Butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa), a species of milkweed.

Habitat:

This individual was spotted in Hollin Hills, a residential community located in Fairfax County, Virginia USA.

Notes:

Milkweed is a host plant for several types of insects, including the Monarch butterfly.
